Description: this volcano was considered sleeping, until an eruption in 1985. It is considered the highest active volcano in the world, but very safe to climb.

ITINERARY.

DAY 1.
Equal like going to the Ampato volcano, but this time we stop in Cajamarcana. From here we will continue walking on a known path. After approximately 6 or 7 hours we will arrive at base cam (5.000 m.a.s.l.).

DAY 2.
We leave very early, taking the right part of the summit. We will arrive close to the crater, where we will use helmets for safety reasons. The return is through the same route, and after this we will take transportation to Arequipa

Classification       : Moderate
Minimum altitude : 4.400 m.a.s.l.
Maximum altitude: 5.798 m.a.s.l.

The best time to climb in this region is between April and September, during the Andean summer. During the rest of the year, it is also possible to climb here, but it is more likely to have some bad weather. The rescue police see for the safety of all mountaineers in the region.
