TOUR: CLIMBING PICCHU PICCHU

Description: Picchu Picchu is one of the three mighty peaks that can be seen from Arequipa, and quite easy to climb.

ITINERARY.

DAY 1.
At 07.00 a.m. we leave Arequipa in private transportation up to the salt lake of Salinas at an altitude of 4.400 m.a.s.l., located behind the mountain Picchu. During the ride we can enjoy the colonial village of Chiguata, the pre-Inca agricultural terraces, a great green valley, lamas, alpacas, vicuñas, eagles, condors, flamencos etcetera. Around 11:00 a.m. we will take a short walk around the lake, later we will arrive at the foot of the volcano Pichu Pichu where we will camp.

DAY 2.
We have an early breakfast at 04:00 a.m., afterwards we start our climb to the top. The ascent is easy and we don't need to use special gear, the road to the top is not steep.
After 4 hours we will arrive at the top of Picchu Picchu (5.640 m.a.s.l.), where we will take our time to take pictures of the magnificent views of the mountains around lake Salinas. The descent from the top will be easy and fast.
At approximately 13:00 p.m. we will travel back to Arequipa.

Minimum altitude : 4.400 m.a.s.l.
Maximum altitude: 5.640 m.a.s.l.

The best time to climb in this region is between April and September, during the Andean summer. During the rest of the year, it is also possible to climb here, but it is more likely to have some bad weather. The rescue police see for the safety of all mountaineers in the region.
