TOUR: Climbing Misti

PRICE: Please contact us for more information.

The Misti Volcano (an active one) is a perfect volcanic cone. It sits right above Arequipa, and is climbed very often. There is no water on the mountain (except at the Aguada Blanca reservoir), but from Janaury until April you can find snow on the upper part. The mountain is another one that was climbed by the Incas.
Several routes to reach the summit can be used. The average time for the ascent per day could be 6 or 7 hours from basecamp to the summit and for descent 3 hours should be calculated.

Technical information:
Classification: easy
Maximum altitude: 5.825 m.a s l.

The best time to climb in this region is between April and September, during the Andean summer.
During the rest of the year, it is also possible to climb, but it is more likely to have some bad weather.
The rescue police sees for the safety of all mountaineers in the region.

DAY 1.
In the morning we pick you up from your hotel. After a ride of about 2 hours we arrive at an altitude of 3.500 m.a.s.l., where we will leave the car and continue walking until we reach the place to install our basecamp (approximately 6 hours). Here we will have dinner and sleep in tents.

Day 2.
At 03.00 a.m. we will wake up and start our climb to the summit. We will use a known path, and after approximately 6 hours we will reach the summit. Here we will take our time to enjoy the magnificent view.
After we have enjoyed the view, we will descent in approximately 1½ hours to the basecamp, where we will collect our gear. After descending back to the car, we will return to Arequipa.
