Mountain Biking in Arequipa.

Biking is very popular around Arequipa, it is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views from the Andes. We have selected some possible bikingtours that you can take.

In all tours the necessary equipment is included: bike and helmet, as well as a professional guide.
We advise you to bring a hat, suncreme, sunglasses, solid shoes, some water and extra snacks and (of course) your camera!!

Campiña Tour

Duration: 3-4 hours
Description: this tour will take you around the city of Arequipa and will visit typical places like colonial houses, museums and churches made of sillar (volcanic stone), the agricultural pre-Inca terraces, El Molino de Sabandia, La Mansión del Fundador, green meadows and small hills. The terrain that we will ride is relatively flat and 100% on asphalt.

Misti Downhill

Description: at 08.00 a.m. we will transport you with private transportation in 1 ½ hours from Arequipa to an altitude of 3.400 m.a.s.l. At 10.00 a.m. we will start the ride downhill at the slopes of the Misti volcano, enjoying the great views until we return in the city of Arequipa at 2.300 m.a.s.l. at 13.00 a.m.

Chachani Downhill

Duration: 9 hours
Description: we leave Arequipa at 07.00 a.m. and will travel with private transportation to an altitude of 5.000 m.a.s.l. Here we will have a short security briefing about the technical details of the mountainbikes, the scurity measures and the route that we will take.
During the first part we will go downhill in a zigzag line, going down for about 1.000 metres in altitude, with a length of 10 km and some steep slopes. People without a lot of experience will travel with a speed of 10-15 km per hour.
At the second part of the ride we will ride for about 16 km and slowly we will go up to 4.200 m.a.s.l., mainly on solid ground and some sandy parts.
The third part of the tour, and also the biggest part, will take us downhill with a difference in altitude of 2.000 metres, on roads of asphalt and speeds up to 45 km per hour. In 2 hours we will arrive in Arequipa, where we will finish our tour at el Mirador de Carmen Alto and we will take back to your hotel.

Sal de Salinas

Description: we leave Arequipa at 08:00 a.m. and drive for three hours towards the south. During the ride we will enjoy the views at the volcanoes Misti and Picchu Picchu, the pre-Inca terrains of Chiguata and the area of Cachamarca. Besides we will see the forest of Queñuales and the beautiful fauna of this area. After this we enter the national reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, here we will stay a while to observe the Salt Lake of Salinas, lamas, alpacas, vicuñas, flamencos. We will get close to the salt lake after a ride between the volcanoes Misti, Ubinas and the snow-covered Picchu Picchu. We will ride around the lake, viewing the variety in animal life of this area, especially the migrating birds of the Andes: ducks, condores, eagles, flamengos etcetera. Also we will be able to see lamas, alpacas, vicuñas, foces, wild rabbits. We visit hot springs and will be able to visit the local inhabitants and enjoy the variety in flora during the whlore ride. After lunch we will return to Arequipa.
